About Maria!

María has dedicated her career to serving working families like hers, having been raised alongside her brother by a single mother. The work of public service is personal to her, she understands what it’s like living paycheck-to-paycheck and needing to lean on social safety nets. María has been influencing state-level policy for over a decade. She currently serves as the state’s executive director for the Commission of Hispanic Affairs, an agency focused on statewide policy that advises the Governor, state agencies, and the legislature. She serves on various statewide workgroups, task forces, and committees such as the Poverty Reduction Work Group, Legislative-Executive Poverty Reduction Oversight Advisory Committee, and the Supplier Diversity Subcabinet.
